Stage Center takes submissions by headshot and resume on an ongoing basis. Please send up-to-date information with a cover letter by checking out the CONTACT page of our site. Perusal scripts are available by emailing us.

DETAILS: Please sing 16 - 32 bars of a song of your choice. You may sing from the show, but please bring your own sheet music, as it will NOT be provided. Headshot/Resume preferred but not required. An accompanist will be provided. Dancers will be taught a short combination to perform in small groups by choreographer Katie Dupont. Singers may be asked to stay and dance; Dancers may be asked to sing.

  • What are Season Generals?

Season Generals are an open casting call for all productions in our upcoming season (2019). 

  • Who can participate?

Actors and musicians ages 16 and up are welcome to audition (unless noted otherwise.) Our School of Performing Arts productions will audition separately.

NOTE: Actors 18 and older who have worked with Stage Center in previous or current seasons may not need to audition again. Simply submit a headshot and resume with a cover letter expressing your desired involvement and you will be notified if you need to be seen specifically, or stop by during one of the audition blocks and fill out an audition form, or CLICK HERE to submit online. Students under 18 are required to audition. Conversely, all actors are welcome to be seen for a particular production if you feel we have not seen adequate or comparable work for your desired production.

  • Where are they held?

All auditions will take place at the Stage Center Studios at the Highland Center, 520 Olive Street, STE A-01. (Enter through the glass doors at the back of the building, off Stephens, and go downstairs. There will be adequate signs in the building.)

  • When do they take place?

TBA, 2018. Additional auditions may be held at the sole discretion of the artistic staff.

  • Why should I audition or submit myself for Season Generals?

This is the first opportunity, and in some cases the only opportunity for actors to submit themselves for consideration for announced productions they are interested in being a part of. Additional audition dates are subject to the discretion of each production's director and Stage Center artistic staff.

  • Can children under the age of 16 audition?

All children interested in our School of Performing Arts shows will be able to audition at separate dates/times. Feel free to contact us for clarification.

Students 16 - 18 double as cast members and interns with duties above and beyond normal camp activities, and therefore are not required to pay tuition, however they are still responsible for buying or selling one page of ad space.

NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY - SIGN IN UPON ARRIVAL

Sign-in begins thirty minutes prior to start of audition.

Ages 7 - 11 will be taught a short song and a short dance combination to perform. No preparation or experience necessary.

Ages 12 - 15 - Please prepare 16-32 bars (about 45 seconds) in the style of classical Broadway to sing a capella, or bring a media player loaded with a karaoke track. You may sing from the show.

Students 16 - 18 - Please provide a current headshot/resume and prepare 16-32 bars of a comedic up-temp in the style of classical Broadway and provide sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.

NOTE: Before going through the process of auditioning with us, please consider the following...

     **By going through the process of auditioning, you are seeking to enroll in a class or camp, and therefore agreeing to commit your child to the production and it's schedule. It is your responsibility to reference this information prior to your audition. At Stage Center's SOPA we firmly believe that a good process begets a good product. To that end, we do not cast based on seniority within the company, nor do we post cast lists prior to the first day/rehearsal. All students interested in our shows are required to show up with open minds and hearts, eager to have a life-enriching experience. We are not interested in working with students and families who are only entertaining offers of leading roles, or featured parts. Due to the truncated nature of summer camp, NO CONFLICTS are allowed. We ask that you check our dates and times thoroughly before making a commitment, so that the schedule can be thoughtfully made with no last-minute hiccups. 

PAYMENT: $100.00 deposit is due with your enrollment/audition forms, and the balance will be due at ORIENTATION on May 19. Payment options are available. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED TO STUDENTS WHO WITHDRAW AFTER GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF AUDITIONING.

Junior Theater Festival - Add-on (w/ Aladdin Jr. only)

Students who enroll in Aladdin Jr. have the option to join our Performance Troupe on their annual trip to the National Invitational Junior Theater Festival, which takes place in Atlanta, Georgia January 17 - 21, 2019, provided they follow all of our rules and protocols while under contract, remaining in good standing throughout the commitment, AND they must enroll in a Stage Center group acting or dance class, or audition and be accepted into our Performance Troupe. See below for a list of approved prerequisite classes.

REGISTER:
Simply add non-refundable $50.00 (per person attending festival) to your $100 show deposit, and fill out the festival form at auditions. The balance will be due October 1, 2018, and payment options are available.

COST:
Four easy payments of $250 for students ages 8 - 15 (this amount includes Production Class tuition, and your total deposit will be deducted from this amount.) Due on April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1.
Four easy payments of $200 for students 16 - 18 and any additional parents, friends, family or chaperones who want to attend in a non-performance capacity. Due on April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1. These amounts are based on four in a room. Private rooms will be available at an additional cost.

FEE INCLUDES:
Round-trip transportation to Atlanta, Georgia via a charter bus and/or van.
4 nights stay in a festival hotel, four in a room.
Tuition for Aladdin Jr. production class (for ages 8 - 15)
1 ticket to see the national tour of a show at the Fabulous Fox Theater (or similar outing, if a show isn't avail.)
All festival activities including performances, lectures, talk-backs, classes, dance parties, etc.
1 official festival t-shirt.

FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE:
Program Ad Sales
Meals
Stage Center Swag (shirts, bags, jackets, etc.)
Extracurricular activities not listed above (i.e. Coca-cola Museum, Atlanta Aquarium, iFly, Stone Mountain Park, CNN Center, Ferris Wheel, or whatever else may come up to do on our free day.)

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE:
Once Aladdin Jr. closes on November 11, we will take the rest of November OFF.
Beginning the week of December 3, we will resume rehearsal to reconceive our full-scale production of Aladdin to a 15-minute presentation without sets, costumes, or props. A full schedule will be made once enrollment is complete, but we will be OFF December 22 - January 6 for the holidays.
NOTE: We meet EVERY DAY leading up to festival, so it is imperative that you CLEAR THE CALENDAR from January 7 - January 16 for festival rehearsals after school. NO CONFLICTS ALLOWED.

The bus will depart from a central location on Thursday, January 16, arriving in Atlanta after 5:00PM.
Friday, January 17 is a rehearsal and play day, and we plan to see a show at the Fox Theater that night.
Saturday, January 18 is festival kickoff and adjudication day, where will perform our selection of Aladdin Jr.
Sunday, January 19 the festival continues and includes awards and typically a concert by a Broadway celebrity.
Monday, January 20 the bus will depart the hotel at 8AM to head back to Shreveport.

JUNIOR THEATER FESTIVAL | 2018 SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS PERFORMANCE TROUPE

We are welcoming new members to our 2018 Performance Troupe, based on successful completion of a juried audition, talent, and experience.

WHO: Students currently in 7th Grade through students currently in 11th grade with adequate experience in any or all of the multi-disciplinary areas of musical theater (music, acting, dance) or relevant experience in productions. (Students 6th grade and younger will have a chance to join our apprentice program this fall.)
WHAT: This is an elite group of theater students who have been training hard and participating in productions for a number of years. Once admitted to the troupe, students take class in acting, singing, & dancing. Each fall, a new 15-minute production is chosen and rehearsed. The troupe then performs at the National Invitational Junior Theater Festival which takes place in Atlanta, GA over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in January, in addition to functions all over Shreveport/Bossier throughout the year.

Interested students must be available on Fridays from 4:15pm - 6:15pm, and need to perform a 1-minute monologue of their choice, and sing two contrasting songs memorized (preferably one ballad, and one uptempo, 16-32 bars [30-45 seconds] of each is sufficient), and submission of a professional headshot and resume.
**The next time students in this age bracket can audition to become an official troupe member will be in January, 2019. DETAILS: Joining troupe is a one-year commitment. Troupers train every Friday for 12 weeks in the spring, and 12 weeks in the fall, where they prepare their new performance piece. The cost is $240 per semester, plus JTF costs which are determined at a later date. There is a $50.00 deposit due to hold your spot for festival. In addition, Troupers receive 10% off of any other tuition-based activities they participate in at Stage Center's SOPA, EXCEPT PRIVATE STUDY.
